Opioid Crisis
The opioid epidemic has increased so much that, we had more than one million opioid related ER visits, last year in the whole country. We all have a family member or a friend that we know who has been affected by opioid addiction.
If we are going to tackle this, then as city officials, we need to partner with our communities to find solutions to this epidemic.

- Bringing community members, addiction recovery advocates, health care professionals, public health officials, tribal community leaders, and law enforcement.
- Educate the public through social media platforms, newspapers and TV on the impact and how to battle addiction.
- Building awareness of naloxone (overdose antidote) and more training to first responders
- Using drug courts to fight opioid addiction and trafficking
As a community we must work together to create a solution. It is a public health emergency impacting all our communities throughout Minnesota.
How do we remove the stigma of drug addiction especially in the communities?
- Showing more positive stories of recovery from addiction
- Asking the people with addiction, how we can assist rather than what we think of them
- Hosting community action mobilization events
