Minneapolis City Council’s Ward 9 seat Council is open for the taking, since Alondra Cano announced in December she would not seek reelection.
I had roots here. I graduated from St. Cloud State University. My three lovely children were born at St. Cloud Hospital by the mighty Mississippi, a river that gripped me at a young age in Africa when I first read “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.”
Yussuf, a businessman and Somali immigrant who moved to town in 1999 and now runs an online organic cosmetics company with his wife, decided to answer that question by running for the open seat representing Ward 9 on the Minneapolis City Council.

My neighbors, our city, our ward has been in the news lately, and seeing what’s happening, it breaks my heart. We do need new leadership in the city hall, and with your help, we can bring back Minneapolis to a safer and business friendly community.
