Health

The Covid-19 pandemic emphasized the inefficiencies and inequities that we have in the city of Minneapolis, and especially in Ward 9. As a city we must collectively work to reduce the racial health gap, prevent illnesses, and make the city a healthy place to live.

For us to address the challenges we have today, we must:

    • Advocate for more funds from the federal government to be allocated for Hennepin County (HCMC) to strengthen the gaps in our only safety net hospital that is facing budget cuts.
    • Create more awareness to promote healthy eating and better ways to prevent illnesses.
    • Funding, more accessibility in improving mental health and addiction services.
    • Bring resources directly to low-income communities and make it language accessible.
    • Creating a livability and accessible city with well-maintained, well lighted, well-marked walking path, bicycle lanes.
    • Collaborating with government agencies to conduct studies on health care disparities
    • Funding trainings to educate the racial bias, which impacts the type of treatment you get as a person of color.
